Pyrite on Pagoda Calcite - Daye, Hubei, China
7cm by 5cm. Comes with stand as pictured.
A beautiful mineral association from Daye, Hubei, featuring icy white Calcite decorated with contrasting metallic Pyrite.
The Calcite forms layered, bladed crystals across the specimen, with smaller geometric Calcite formations scattered throughout. What makes this piece especially lovely are the tiny brassy-gold Pyrite crystals nestled across the Calcite, with many appearing concentrated around the tips and centres of individual formations.
I love the contrast between the soft, almost frosted appearance of the Calcite and the little flashes of metallic gold. From different angles, new pockets of Pyrite appear amongst the crystals, giving the piece an incredible amount of detail and sparkle.
The Daye mining district is a renowned Chinese mineral locality, particularly known amongst collectors for beautifully crystallised associations of Calcite, Pyrite and other metallic minerals.
Calcite is traditionally associated with clarity and uplifting energy, while Pyrite is often connected with confidence, abundance and protection.

Please note: As this is a natural mineral specimen, variations in colour, crystal formation, inclusions, natural fractures and contact points are part of its unique character. Calcite is naturally delicate and should be handled with care. Colours may appear slightly different depending on lighting conditions and screen settings.
