Thousand-layer Petal Calcite - Yaogangxian Mine, China
8cm by 6cm. Includes glass base.
An incredibly delicate and collectible Calcite specimen from the renowned Yaogangxian Mine in Hunan, China, featuring the beautiful “Thousand Layer” petal formation this material is known for.
Countless fine white Calcite blades overlap and fan outward in intricate layers, creating soft rosette-like formations that resemble tiny crystalline flowers. Up close, the individual blades reveal feathery edges and a subtle pearly lustre, giving the entire piece an almost weightless appearance.
This distinctive style of Yaogangxian Calcite is becoming increasingly difficult to source, with these beautiful older-style petal formations no longer commonly produced. Well-preserved examples are especially lovely collector pieces from one of China’s most celebrated mineral localities.
Calcite is traditionally associated with clarity, cleansing and uplifting energy.
Mineral: Calcite
Locality: Yaogangxian Mine, Yizhang County, Hunan Province, China
Please note: As this is a natural mineral specimen, variations in colour, crystal formation, inclusions, natural fractures and contact points are part of its unique character. Calcite is naturally delicate and should be handled with care. Colours may appear slightly different depending on lighting conditions and screen settings.
