Pink Petal Calcite on Quartz - Huanggang, Inner Mongolia

A beautifully soft and sculptural combination specimen from the Huanggang Fe-Sn Deposit, featuring pale blush-pink Calcite growing over and around contrasting Quartz crystals.

The Calcite forms in delicate layered petals and flattened crystalline clusters, giving the piece a soft, almost floral appearance. Through the centre, the cooler grey-white Quartz adds structure and contrast, while the surrounding Calcite creates a beautifully textural, cloud-like frame.

I especially love the balance in this piece — the sharper Quartz growth gives it definition, while the pale pink Calcite softens the overall look. From different angles, you can see little pockets, crystal faces and overlapping layers that make the specimen feel very dimensional.

Huanggang is well known amongst mineral collectors for its beautiful Calcite and Quartz associations, including unusual bladed, platy and manganese-bearing Calcite habits.

Calcite is traditionally associated with clarity and uplifting energy, while Quartz is often connected with amplification and focus.
