Petal Calcite on Quartz - Huanggang, Inner Mongolia
5.5cm tall. Comes with a display base.
A wonderfully sculptural specimen from the Huanggang Fe-Sn Deposit, combining delicate Petal Calcite with large, beautifully contrasting Quartz crystals.
Layers of creamy ivory and soft champagne Calcite grow in intricate rosettes and feathery sprays across the matrix, almost wrapping themselves around the larger Quartz formations. The Calcite varies from tiny overlapping petals to thicker bladed clusters, giving the piece incredible texture and depth.
What makes this one especially striking is the contrast between the two crystal habits. Chunky, translucent Quartz crystals rise from amongst the delicate Calcite blossoms, creating an almost architectural formation that looks completely different depending on the angle.
Huanggang is renowned amongst collectors for its diverse mineral assemblages and beautifully crystallised Calcite and Quartz specimens, particularly those displaying unusual and complex growth habits.
Calcite is traditionally associated with clarity and uplifting energy, while Quartz is often connected with clarity and amplification.
